Okay. Last fall, I had a writing assignment on Benjamin Franklin in my history class. Of course, I came to the library to get a book about him. I had the assignment done in minutes. The next day, I turned it in. However, before I did that, I had my best friend, Cassie, read it over for me. She thought it was great! And she wanted to use the book I used also. Therefore, I gave it to her, thinking she would return it later.
Now you may think, "Just go get the book from Cassie!" However, I cannot do that you see, she gave it back after about a week. "Where is it then?" you may be wondering now. Well, I will tell you. Some one came up and stole it right out of my bag! Yes, I am telling the truth. Cassie and I started chasing after him, but he was too fast.
A little bit after two weeks, I went onto EBay, to see if they had the same book. They did! When I took a closer look, it was the same book that was stolen from me! I mean, it even had the stickers on it from the library! So, I bet on it. Another person did too. And, after four hours of going back and forth of raising the price, I gave up. I was not going to pay $5013.54 for a book that I could just pay around $15 to replace.
And so, here I am today. I have not paid that $15, yet. I have not found another Benjamin Franklin book. I am just giving you an excuse, that way my mother will stop yelling at me to replace the book I "lost". And so that maybe, just maybe, you'll let me borrow another book from the library.
I was asleep in me bed
Pillow under me head
Dreaming of things I shan't mention here.
When a blast of noise
And a few well-thrown coins
Decided to burst through me windows!
Well, I ran over to see what on earth
Could disturb MY slumber so deep
And lo and behold, when I got to the window
There was a parade coming down the street!
There'd been no warning, I'd had no chance to ask
When I was pulled through me window
And I let out a gasp.
The seventeenth! Of course says I, its St. Pattie's Day, and I feel so alive!
Well, I dashed into me home and
Found some good clothes to roam in
And set off down the street with them!
Well, I'll be darned, when I reached for an arm, found myself clutching a pillow.
Oh curses, says I, and with a well-placed sigh,
I sit for four days and I wait for my favorite holiday parade
To come 'round the corner for real.
The real parade weren't nearly as good
As the one I had in me dreams
A few cheap plastic toys
And a toffee or two
And I go home disappointed and hope that next year
My St. Patrick's Day dream will come true!
Don't ever speak the story of the maid on main street hill. If you do, you will bestow a terrible run of bad luck. If you make it out, that is. When the maid hears her name being spoken she kills everyone that is around. One by one they die. Only if you're in the woods will she hunt you. Crystal's just made that mistake, and it's going to cost every one of their lives. Hope it was worth it.
"It was a terribly cold day in December and everyone was inside the house," Crystal began. "Elizabeth and their two children, Brittany and Domonic were sitting around their fireplace sipping coffee and cocoa. After a short while, David sent Brittany and Donomic to bed for the night; he and Elizabeth followed shortly after."
"When everyone was asleep (or so she thought) the maid went after her masters. One by one, she killed them, all in different ways. Master Domonic was hung from the window in his sleep; madam Brittany was smothered by her own pillow. As for madam Elizabeth, she was stabbed several times and master David was shot in the stomach," Crystal continued.
"When the chef and the butler heard the gun shot they entered their master's room to find the maid. Helen, the maid, in a fit of frustration, shot them both. The police were soon after her, but never found her until it was too late."
"Helen hung her bony, cut-up body from this very tree behind us. Now Helen's lost soul wanders these woods searching for her next victims."
"Boo!" Crystal screams as she leaps forward scaring Tyler, Brian, and Lynn.
After a while they all laugh, but they know they're scared now. Crystal's awakened the soul of the maid on main street hill. In the bushes nearby a pair of blood red eyes with black, bloodshot lines running through them watch the four kids laughing and having fun.
As the fire began to die down, Lynn and Brian called it a night, and went to their tent. Shortly after them, Tyler and Crystal went to their tent also. Morning came quickly as they awoke to watch the sun rise, giving everything a pink and orange glow. The birds were singing and they could hear fish jumping in the stream nearby. They would've never guessed that their lives were in danger, and there was nothing they could do to save themselves.
"Tyler and I are going to catch some fish for lunch," Crystal said. "Will you and Brian go get some wood for the fire? "
"Sure, no problem," Lynn said as she turned to Brian. "Come on, honey."
As Lynn and Brian gathered wood for the fire they playfully flirted with each other. They were both having a great time when Brian's neck began to hurt. Slowly and unsteadily, he leaned against a tree, dropping all the firewood. The pain began to worsen to an unbearable point. Brian couldn't breathe and could hardly stand.
"Don't worry, Brian, I'm going to get Tyler and Crystal. You'll be alright." Lynn said as she ran towards the river, her long, black hair blowing in the wind. She barely let her feet touch the ground, as she ran like an antelope and was as swift as a cat.
But everything stopped as she fell when she reached Tyler and Crystal. "Oh, my god, Lynn. Are you alright?" Crystal asked as she ran to Lynn's side, her dark hair falling in front of her deep, brown eyes.
"Lynn, where's Brian?" Tyler asked, as he nervously ran his fingers through his dark, shaggy hair.
"He's acting very weird. He needs our help," Lynn said, as she jumped to her feet.
"Hurry, let's go. Follow Lynn," Crystal said as she ran after Lynn.
When they reached Brian, it was too late. His body was limp and his skin was white as a ghost, with a rope mark around his neck. But they couldn't find a rope anywhere.
"What's going on here?" Crystal asked, as she backed away from Brian's lifeless body. She was horrified and her eyes were filled with unshed tears.
"I don't know," Lynn said, as she began to cry. "Before I left he said his neck hurt, and he could hardly stand. I honestly don't know. "
When Lynn said that, everything went black. Lynn couldn't see anything and her air supply began to shorten. Lynn couldn't breathe! It was as if she was being smothered. As she struggled to breathe, her body became limp, her complexion steadily getting paler. The maid got her, too.
Terrified, Crystal grabbed Tyler hoping for some sort of safety from him. "This is too much like the story I told," Crystal said as she looked up at Tyler and began to cry.
This statement frightened Tyler. "So who's going to die next?" Tyler asked, his voice shaken and his eyes filled with fear.
"Well, in the story, Elizabeth died next," Crystal said as she began to realize what was about to happen. "We've got to get out of here!" Crystal's voice was dry and raspy.
"But we can't just leave Brian and Lynn here," Tyler said, trying to hide his fear.
The sky became dark and an icy chill ran down their spines. Something moved in the shadows, watching them. Waiting for it to happen, and then…
"Ugh," Crystal said, as she dropped to her knees, clutching her stomach in pain.
"Honey, what's wrong?" Tyler asked, kneeling beside her, placing a hand on her shoulder.
Slowly, Crystal removed her hand and was mortified by what she saw. Blood covered her hand and her shirt.
"Crystal, get up!" Tyler screamed. "We've got to get out of here, now!" Tyler yelled as he picked up Crystal and began to run at almost a full run.
"Tyler, I don't want to die," Crystal said hysterically.
"Don't worry, baby, I won't let you die. Not here, not now," Tyler said as he continued to run with Crystal in his arms.
By now Crystal has passed out from the loss of blood and is slowly dying with every breath she takes. Now Tyler is left alone. Not only to save his own life, but also to save his girlfriend, Crystal, as well.
As Tyler ran, it steadily became darker. The maid followed him into the shadows; waiting, longing for him to die her old master's death. "You'll never make it out alive," the maid said in an eerie voice that froze Tyler in his tracks.
"No, I won't die this way!" Tyler screamed, his voice filled with horror as he held Crystal's lifeless body tighter."You took Lynn and Brian, but I won't let you take us," Tyler said, looking, searching for the maid, waiting for her to show herself.
"Run, boy, run!" the maid yelled as she laughed an eerie laugh that made Tyler run faster than he'd ever run before.
As Tyler neared the end of the woods, he began to feel hope and then, in an eerie mist, the maid appeared. Her pale, bony body, with torn and raggedy clothes, her face covered in blood; as her neck hung to the side from when she hung herself. She floated towards Tyler, pointing at him with one bony finger, staring him down. Unable to move, Tyler stood there in horror as she neared him. When the maid was no more than a foot away, she stopped. With one, heart-stopping scream, she disappeared into a black cloud.
In the distance, Tyler heard her whisper, "Now it's your turn, master."
With the sound of a gun in the distance, everything went black. Tyler dropped to the ground, his lifeless body lying next to Crystal.
Nobody ever knew what became of the kids. Their bodies were never found. They seem to have disappeared with the maid. But we all know that she'll be back. She always comes back!
Crystal told the story of the maid on main street hill, and all four of them paid the price. Now the maid waits for her next victims to tell they story. Who will it be? We don't know. Maybe they'll survive, but if they don't they'll end up like Tyler, Crystal, Lynn and Brian.
The End.
