Service Specialist - Youth Services
Full-time - Opening at Amelia Branch
- Duties
- Works under the direction of the Youth Services Librarian to provide direct library service to people of all ages, especially children from birth through late teens. Answers library user’s reference and reader’s advisory questions, in person and on the telephone, using materials in a variety of formats (i.e. books, databases, periodicals, newspapers, and indexes) including the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) and the Internet. Maintains a working knowledge of the materials collections, services available, and trends in library services to people of all ages, particularly youth. Develops, plans, and presents a variety of programs for youth (i.e. story times, summer reading activities, and special programs) both in the library and as outreach to the community. Assists library users at the circulation desk using the library automated circulation system. Shelves materials daily as needed.
- Qualifications
- A broad range of knowledge of a wide variety of subjects usually acquired through a four year college program or associate degree and 3 years of library experiences. Must be able to work evenings and weekends. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required. Required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

- $14.56 per hour minimum
