Curious about the Iditarod, the last great race? All ages are invited to join us at the New Richmond Branch Library to learn the history of Alaska’s annual race. During the race, mushers and their teams of 21 dogs travel approximately 350 miles over the course of 9 – 15 days. Learn how the teams prepare and care for their human and 4-legged members, and learn about Balto, the most famous sled dog. At 2:00 pm, watch a live simulcast of the ceremonial start of the 2017 race. Stay and make a sled craft. We’ll have a map race tracker updated daily for the duration of the race.
Sign up online. For more information, call the library at 553-0570. Attendees ages 8 and under will need an adult caregiver to attend with them.
