Library Funding

Clermont County Public Library receives its revenue from several sources. The state legislature provides the majority of the funding from its biennial budget, while additional money comes from local property taxes. CCPL recently passed a $.9 Mil operating levy in 2008. Library fines and fees provide the last, and smallest, portion.

52% of the Library’s funding, $4,844,931.51, came from the Public Library Fund (PLF) as allocated by the state legislature in 2009. This was a decrease of nearly 18% from 2008. In 2008, CCPL received $5,894,000 from the PLF. This was a decrease from the $5,991,000 received in 2007.

In 2009, current PLF projections were changed from $6,157,000 to $4,779,000 a significant reduction in funding. This number does not include additional cuts proposed by Governor Strickland.

CCPL revenue from local property tax prior to the passage of the 2008 levy stood at $1,200,000. The library's estimated collection after the levy passage was $3,868,000.

In December of 2009, the CCPL Board of Trustees passed a 2010 budget of $7,400,000. Depending on state funding, tax collection and property values, the budget could be revised at any time during the year.
