The Academy Awards (Oscars) - Given out yearly since 1929 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for excellence in movie making.
Critics’ Choice Awards - The best in cinematic achievement chosen by members of the Broadcast Film Critics Association. This award includes the best in Comedy, Action Movie, Acting Ensemble (cast), and Made for Television Movie.
Daytime Emmy Awards - Awarded yearly by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. “It recognizes excellence in television with the coveted Emmy® Award for News & Documentary, Sports, Daytime Entertainment, Daytime Creative Arts & Entertainment, Public & Community Service, Technology & Engineering, and Business & Financial Reporting.
Golden Globe Awards - Awarded yearly by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) which is an association of international journalists who spread information regarding television and movies throughout the world. The Golden Globes include awards for the best Television as well as Movies.
Independent Spirit Awards - Awarded yearly by Film Independent to showcase Independent Films.
MTV Movie Awards - The winners are chosen by vote through MTV’s website. A few of the traditional categories are awarded (Best Male and Female Performers, and Best Movie) but these movie awards include Best Fight, Best Villain, Best Kiss, and other much less traditional awards.
NAACP Image Awards - “Presented annually, the NAACP Image Awards is the nation’s premier event which recognizes the exemplary works by, for, and relevant to people of color in the arts (motion picture, television, recording, and literature), as well as those individuals or groups who promote social justice through their creative endeavors.”
Primetime Emmy Awards - Awarded yearly by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for excellence in primetime television.
Screen Actors Guild Awards - Awarded annually by the Screen Actors Guild to performers or casts of Movies and television only.
