Summer Reading for Childcares
June 6 - August 1
The library is offering a summer reading program for childcare facilities. Just for signing up, each facility will receive their own Ready to Read kit.
Three facilities will be chosen at random to receive a visit from The Wild Thing from Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.
The library encourages you to dedicate a reading time each day for all of the children enrolled at your facility. Research shows that 65% of children in Clermont County are not ready to read when they enter kindergarten. Reading aloud to children introduces the concepts of:
- Print motivation
- Print awareness
- Narrative skills
- Phonological awareness
- Vocabulary
- Letter knowledge
