The Doorstep

Here I sit
On the doorstep of love.
Will it open again?
Perhaps just a sliver, so love can get out,
Or I can get in.

Did my heart die,
On the doorstep of Love?
Will his death continue to hover?
Is it true mourning wanes?
I’m alive.  Can my heart still recover?

If it were my mind,
Sitting on the doorstep of Love.
Would I remember him, and begin to sing?
Would it take me back?
To a time of living and loving and everything?

Woe be to the one,
Who sits on the doorstep of Love.
Watching, waiting and wondering when.
Will the door open?
Perhaps now, perhaps never again.
