Learn more about Fort Amanda at the Williamsburg Branch Library.
Fort Amanda, one of several forts built in Northwest Ohio during the War of 1812, was garrisoned by men from Clermont and Hamilton counties. David Johnson, author of Fort Amanda (1790 – 1814): A Historical Redress, discovered that for the past 200 years, much of what has been written about the fort has been wrong. As a result, the names of the men from Clermont and Hamilton counties who built the fort were lost to history.
Join us to learn what Mr. Johnson has discovered in his 43 years of research about daily life at Fort Amanda and the veterans who served there. Mr. Johnson’s book, rich in genealogical detail, will be available for purchase.
