Librari*Con is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, November 2, at the Union Township Branch Library.

New this year: homemade costumes will be considered first for winning entries.

You can enter alone or as part of a group. We have categories for Youth, Family/Groups, Teens, and Adults.

We’ll consider handmade cosplay entries first for winning the contest. So check out these books from our library collection. Get inspired and maybe even learn a new skill.

Cosplay Basics by Yuki Takasou. A beginner’s guide to the art of costume play.

1000 Incredible Costume and Cosplay Ideas by Yaya Han. This book provides a detailed glimpse into the ingenious artistry of costumes. It shows the attention to detail behind some of the most fabulous costumes.

The Hero’s Closet by Gillian Conahan. This essential handbook offers detailed, step-by-step instructions that cover the basics of sewing costumes. Sewing cosplay costumes often needs skills not covered in standard sewing guides. This book will help even the most novice sewists create the costumes of their dreams.
