Early Literacy

What is early literacy? Although it might sound like it, early literacy isn’t teaching your child how to read. It’s helping your child become aware of and comfortable with books and language. You are getting them ready to learn to read.

It’s never too early to prepare children for success as readers.  You can teach important pre-reading skills now that will make it easier for your child to learn to read.

Reasons to read to your child. They’ll have:

  • A larger vocabulary
  • Better language skills
  • Greater interest in books
  • Greater enjoyment of reading

Our Parent’s Guide offers you tips about developing your child’s skills.

Storytime

All of our ten locations have storytimes. Find one that’s convenient for you and your kids – Event Calendar.
