The Clermont County Public Library offers many online resources for studying genealogy and local history, including: African American Family Research, U.S. Census information, historical military records, collections of historic photos and documents, Sanborn Fire Insurance maps, and free access to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

African-American Heritage

Provides a dedicated, user-friendly resource bringing together records critical to African American family research and connecting to a community of research experts.

Ancestry Library Edition

Trace your family history using U. S. Census records; military records; court, land and probate records; vital and church records; directories; petitions for naturalization; passenger lists. *Available only in the library.*

Digital Public Library of America

Historic digital collections from libraries, museums, and archives across Ohio and more. The DPLA portal to photographs, maps, documents, and AV materials from across the country is a great starting place for your local history and genealogy reference.

FamilySearch

FamilySearch has more than 6 billion searchable names and 2 billion images of historical genealogical records. FamilySearch adds over 300 million free genealogical records and images online yearly from all over the world; it also manages the famous FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City. It has amassed billions of birth, marriage, death, census, land, and court records from more than 130 countries to help you discover and make family connections. Only available at the Batavia Branch.

Genealogy Form

The Batavia Branch houses the Clermont County Genealogical Society Collection. As time permits, Library staff will answer specific queries. Requests will be answered in the order they were received, and the response time may be lengthy.

ProQuest Historical Newspapers: The Cincinnati Enquirer (1841-2009)

Offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue. The collection includes digital reproductions providing access to every page from every available issue. Library card needed for home access.

Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps

Find large scale street plans produced by the Sanborn Fire Insurance company from 1867 to 1970. Locate and identify buildings and neighborhoods. Study the growth of towns and cities, and the impact of new development

Sharp Collection

A digitized collection of photographic prints granted to the Clermont County Public Library by the family of Oscar H. Sharp, a local photographer. The collection contains varied historical images of Clermont County.
