Naming and Renaming Libraries

Regarding the Clermont County Public Library’s naming conventions, the following rules shall apply: 

The branch name will show in priority order:  Clermont County Public Library followed by branch name.

Examples:      

*Clermont County Public Library

Doris Wood Batavia Branch

*Clermont County Public Library

Marion G. Croswell Williamsburg Branch

*Clermont County Public Library

Union Township Branch

Before any consideration will be given to a name change, there must be broad-based community support via petition.

Any financial burden resulting from a name change shall be paid by those who petition for the change.

The petition must demonstrate acknowledgement of financial responsibility for the change.  The petition must also demonstrate broad-based community support and must be presented to the Clermont County Public Library Board of Trustees at a regularly scheduled meeting.  The Board may accept or reject any petition for renaming a library branch after due consideration.
