The Incredible Life of General Henry Corbin

General Henry Corbin's life reads like the stuff of legends and Hollywood movies: a young man from Monroe Township who became one of the most powerful men of early 20th-century Washington. But is it all true? Corbin became the confidant and military advisor to presidents from Grant to William Howard Taft. President William McKinley called Corbin, "The Man Most Responsible for winning the Civil War.
Presented by Gary Knepp, local author and historian. Gary will be selling his books after the program.

Getting There – Cincinnati’s Transportation History

For over two centuries, Cincinnatians have embraced a variety of transportation modes. Whether settling in the region or traveling to distant destinations, people had transportation choices such as flatboats, canal boats, and steamboats.
Gradually, within the city, there were choices for travel to work and play, such as inclines, streetcars, and eventually the automobile. Why was the Rapid Transit System proposed in the early 20th century never finished? And why is the Greater Cincinnati Airport across the river in Kentucky?

Naturalist Carol Mundy brings you this program, taking a step back in time to learn about daily life in Ohio at the time of statehood. You'll learn a little about how we managed our households, what kinds of food we ate, and the herbs we collected for food and medicine. Carol will bring food prepared in the tradition of the early 19th century for sampling!
