Andrea Brofft was recently named the new Clermont County Public Library (CCPL) Director. This is her first Director's Note.
I’m excited to become the Director of the Clermont County Public Library and to continue working to connect all ten of our Library branches to our Clermont County community. It’s personally meaningful to begin this new role as we look forward to Back to School days.
Becoming Director at this time is truly a full-circle moment for me because I signed up for my first CCPL library card as a first grader attending school in Miami Township.
Around that time, I was diagnosed with amblyopia, or “lazy eye,” and had to wear an eye patch and bifocal glasses. My ophthalmologist told my parents that one of the best ways to strengthen my eye muscles was through reading. My parents made getting my library card and visiting the Library a priority so I would always have new reading material.
Reading truly opened my eyes to the world and shaped who I am today. Often, the first question I enthusiastically ask when someone learns I work at the Library is, “Do you have a library card?” It opens the door to sharing the many ways the Library can make a difference in someone’s life.
One of the most engaging ways we can make a difference in your life is through the variety of events and services listed in this newsletter. CCPL offers something for everyone: America250 events, crafting classes, Staff Picks for your next great read, and our newest service, GetSetUp – free classes in cooking, exercise, creative arts, and so much more.
