Discover Your Public Library this September

This September, Clermont County Public Library (CCPL) invites you to celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month and discover the value of a library card.

Of course, you can check out books with a library card, but CCPL also offers a variety of resources and activities for all ages. From free classes and job resources to homework help, streaming movies and TV shows, ebooks and digital magazines to book groups, the Library connects our community to information, inspiration, and each other.

Director Andrea Brofft recalls getting her first library card: “I signed up for my first CCPL library card as a first grader. Around that same time, I was diagnosed with amblyopia, or “lazy eye,” and had to wear a patch and bifocal glasses. My ophthalmologist told my parents that one of the best ways to strengthen my eye muscles was through reading. Because of that, my parents made getting a library card and visiting the Library a priority so I would always have new reading material. It truly opened my eyes to the world and shaped who I am today.”

Library Card Sign-up Month

An initiative of the American Library Association, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September since 1987 to mark the beginning of the school year, combat illiteracy, and encourage communities everywhere to explore all the offerings that having a library card unlocks. Today, thousands of public libraries and schools nationwide participate in the month-long celebration each fall.

This Library Card Sign-up Month, we're offering a refresh of our cards. Two new designs, a colorful CCPL-branded card and a limited-edition America250 Williamsburg Branch Mural card, will be available to both new and current cardholders. Guests can also get a free library card sleeve* (while supplies last) when they stop in during the month of September.

Getting a library card is free, easy, and empowering. It’s a smart way to stay connected to your community. Stop by any of Clermont County Public Library’s 10 locations or visit clermontlibrary.org to sign up for your card right now.

*Call ahead to your branch to see if card sleeves are currently available.
